A former commander of the UK's air and space warfare centre will deliver recommendations next month on how the state-backed organization can most effectively assist the scale of government AI ambitions in national security, homeland protection and information gathering.
Strategic Realignment
The institute's chair, a ex-Amazon UK executive, confirmed that 78 different research projects at the center employing hundreds have been closed, spun out or completed because they aren't consistent with the revised strategy.
Internal Challenges
The institute has faced workplace difficulties since last year as employees objected against restructuring, culminating in a team of staff members filing a whistleblower complaint to the proper supervisory commission.
The organization's management stated that these staff complaints were third-party reviewed by a external organization that found them to have no substance.
