The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing action and insanity with the same excitement, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose creations have embodied all of those elements.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' structure by featuring a new setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
