Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
