Renowned Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
US actor Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles on Monday having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of well-known programs, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".
"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.
The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
