Jurgen Klopp admits coming back to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.
The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, remarked that a future comeback is a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring Champions League success and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed the Premier League last season, though countless followers who adore the manager would welcome the idea of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage any other side in England. So that means should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”
“At 58 years old, which suggests I could make the decision in a few years, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I can just see what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on what circumstances must arise to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip press conferences four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad enjoying conversation, is pleasant. Success was frequent thus frequently positive atmosphere around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, acknowledging his role for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the idea of it representing a slump.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences for the team. The forward died tragically in a road accident with his brother recently.
“How do you replace a person like him? It’s not about his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad as well. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Coping with it emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
