Ireland's Singer CMAT Postpones United Kingdom Tour Owing to Wisdom Teeth Pain
Irish artist CMAT has revealed she will reschedule her fully booked UK tour that was scheduled to begin this week.
In a online statement, the 29-year-old rising star stated she requires immediate dental procedure to extract two wisdom teeth.
"I currently cannot move my jaw wide enough to smile let alone perform," she shared with her audience.
Fans will be provided either a rescheduled concert date or a full reimbursement.
Tour Information
CMAT, whose real name is Ciara Thompson, was scheduled to perform in the capital on Thursday as part of her European tour, following the release of her latest record in last month.
She was scheduled to perform in Manchester city, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Glasgow again over the coming week.
Thompson confirmed she would postpone her upcoming performances after finding out she had an infected wisdom tooth.
"I know that this will create inconveniences for numerous of you who may have made plans to journey to these concerts," CMAT posted.
"And for this I can only say I am very sorry."
Medical Situation
A dentist told her she required an operation to remove both bottom wisdom teeth next week, for which she'll need to spend at least 14 days healing.
The Ireland's singer explained she cannot "chew any food" and "can barely concentrate" due to the agony.
Upcoming Plans
New dates for the October leg of CMAT's tour will be announced "as soon as possible," the artist confirmed.
Her UK tour is due to finish in spring before she plays in Europe and at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts event.
She performed at Glastonbury earlier this year, where she spoke about her experience of online fat-shaming after a concert the previous year.
Musical Background
Euro Country, the title track from the artist's new album touches on the impacts of the 2008 global financial crisis in Ireland.
A radio station was required to state it did not remove the Irish language introduction to the single in its initial airing after 45 seconds of the song were not played on air.
The network stated it had played the version given to them by CMAT's record company.
