Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
